Rename the Rant

I got so much flack on the unRantishness of the "Latest Rant" posted last November (see comments), that I announced a Rename the Rant Contest in the December eNewsletter. I am thrilled to announce that we now have several winners.

The Multifarious Multifaceted Award goes to Justin, who was miles ahead of the crowd in the sheer number of his suggestions: wordsmith, Wordshop Word, word chips, word piece, word link, wordy word, and my favorite: The Remains of the Month.

Greg gets the Humble Pie Award for his suggestion: Small Fry.
Not to be confused with "Hot Reads".

The Bird Brain Award goes to Jim for the following letter which I print in it's entirety:

"Now you've gone too far! Rants becoming runts is acceptable, but when you flushed the grouse metaphor, that was too much.
Here it is the season of glorified partridges in pear trees and you are disparaging the lowly grouse. The season of their self esteem has become an occasion of belittlement.
As a citizen of the only state wherein we defend the rights of spotted owls, I must protest. You may not goose the grouse to garnish your grumbling.
I feel it necessary to contact my political action committee of choice: Oregonian Friends of Winged Fowl, Homo Sapiens, and Humpty Dumpty (Pron. "Off Wif His Hed")
Legal counsel for the O.F.W.F.H.S.H.D. will be contacting you to determine whether your pockets are deep enough for elevating this matter to the status of Fully Enraged, Fully Indignant." Be advised that when we hit FEFI status, you can expect a full, frontal media attack.
Suffice it to say that you have ruffled our feathers."
Ruffed Grouse
I quail before these fowl threats!

Don gets the Radical Write award for plumbing the depths of my intentions:

"I suggest Rooting instead of the Rant. I looked in my Reader's Digest Greater Encyclopedic Dictionary and found these six verb definitions, including: 1. To take root or establish; 2. To pull up (as by the roots; 3. To turn up or dig with the snout or nose, as swine; 4. To search for something (rummage); 5. work hard, 6. To cheer or encourage. I would think that these have something in common with the purpose of your Rant, since I am certain that you are not merely blowing off steam but hoping to foment change! (Incidentally, if you choose Rummagings, I still get credit!)
Unfortunately this suggestion was disqualified due to the the nose, snout and swine allusions.

You may be wondering which suggestion will be used in the future. So am I. Check in next month.
